Physical Properties

1. Appearance: White crystalline granular powder
2. Odor: Slight acetic acid odor
3. Solubility: Easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol; slightly soluble in acetone; insoluble in ether, benzene
4. Density (25℃): 1.84 g/cm3
5. Melting Point: Decomposes at about 237℃ without fixed melting point
6. pH value (10% aqueous solution): 6.0–7.5, weakly acidic
7. Hygroscopy: Slightly hygroscopic, absorbs moisture in humid air to form dihydrate zinc acetate
8. Crystal characteristic: Anhydrous crystal, easily recrystallized from ethanol-water mixed solvent
9. Boiling property: Decomposes before boiling, releases acetic acid vapor at high temperature

Chemical Properties

1. Salt property: Weak acid weak base salt formed by acetic acid and zinc oxide/zinc carbonate
2. Hydrolysis reaction: Slow hydrolysis in aqueous solution to produce trace zinc hydroxide and acetic acid
3. Thermal decomposition: Decompose above 230℃ into zinc oxide, acetic acid and ketone by-products
4. Reaction with alkali: Reacts with sodium hydroxide, ammonia water to generate white zinc hydroxide precipitate, excess strong alkali dissolves precipitate to form zincate
5. Reaction with carbonate: Produces white zinc carbonate precipitate when mixed with sodium carbonate solution
6. Chelation performance: Acetate ligand can form soluble complexes with transition metal ions
7. Photostability: Stable under normal light; long-term strong light will slightly turn gray
8. Compatibility: Compatible with neutral/weak acidic raw materials; incompatible with strong alkali, phosphate, sulfide, strong oxidants

1. Water treatment industry

   Water quality stabilizer, scale inhibitor for circulating cooling water; zinc ion provides corrosion inhibition protection for steel pipeline; synergistic use with organic phosphoric acid scale inhibitors.
2. Food & feed additive

   Food-grade zinc fortifier, used in beverage, dairy, cereal products to supplement zinc element; feed mineral additive for livestock, poultry and aquaculture to promote growth and immunity.
3. Printing & textile industry

   Mordant for fabric dyeing; auxiliary for printing color fixing agent; fabric anti-shrinkage finishing additive.
4. Pharmaceutical & daily chemical

   Oral zinc supplement raw material for zinc-deficiency related diseases; antibacterial additive for skin ointment, oral care products; raw material for cosmetic skin conditioning agent.
5. Industrial catalyst

   Organic synthesis catalyst for esterification, polymerization reaction; catalyst for vinyl acetate synthesis; crosslinking catalyst for resin and rubber.
6. Electroplating industry

   Electroplating zinc additive, adjust plating solution ion concentration, improve coating uniformity and brightness.
7. Laboratory analytical reagent

   Precipitation reagent for sulfide, phosphate detection; standard zinc ion source for chemical titration and calibration experiments.
