Applications
HATU is a third-generation urea-based peptide coupling reagent, widely used in peptide synthesis and organic synthesis. It efficiently activates carboxylic acids to form active esters, promoting amide/peptide bond formation with high yield and low racemization, ideal for solid-phase and solution-phase peptide synthesis, fragment coupling and linear peptide cyclization. It’s widely used in pharmaceutical industry for synthesizing peptide drugs, small-molecule amides and heterocyclic compounds. In biochemistry, it modifies proteins, polysaccharides (e.g., chitosan N-acylation) and nucleic acids. In agrochemicals, it synthesizes amide-based pesticides and fungicides. As a high-efficiency condensation reagent, it replaces traditional reagents like DCC/EDC, reducing side reactions and improving product purity. With stable activity and broad compatibility, it’s a core reagent in peptide chemistry and pharmaceutical R&D, with large demand in fine chemical and biopharmaceutical industries.
Safety Information
This product is an irritant and sensitizer with health hazards. Inhalation of dust may irritate respiratory tract, causing cough, sore throat or asthma-like symptoms; wear dust respirator and ensure ventilation. Skin contact may cause irritation or allergic reactions (redness, itching); wear nitrile gloves and protective clothing, wash skin with soap water after operation. Eye contact causes severe irritation, redness and pain; rinse eyes with plenty of running water for ≥15 minutes and seek medical help immediately. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea and vomiting; do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention promptly. Stable under normal conditions, but decomposes under strong acid/alkali, high temperature or moisture; store sealed and dry at -20°C, away from oxidants. Dispose of waste per hazardous waste regulations to avoid environmental pollution.
