Applications

3-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl isocyanate is a high-activity aromatic isocyanate intermediate containing a trifluoromethyl group. It undergoes nucleophilic addition with alcohols, amines, and carboxylic acids to form carbamates, ureas, and amides, respectively. Widely used in pharmaceutical synthesis for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-tumor, and central nervous system drug intermediates. In agrochemicals, it’s used for high-efficiency herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. Also applied in functional polymer materials, polyurethane coatings, and adhesive cross-linking agents. Common in laboratory organic synthesis and custom fine chemical production.

Safety Information

This product is a highly reactive, corrosive, and irritant liquid; reacts violently with water releasing toxic gases. Inhalation of vapor causes severe respiratory irritation, cough, chest pain, and dyspnea; high concentrations may trigger pulmonary edema. Skin contact leads to chemical burns, redness, blistering, and pain. Eye contact causes severe irritation, corneal damage, and even blindness; rinse with plenty of running water for over 15 minutes immediately. Ingestion results in severe burns to the mouth, throat, and digestive tract, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Operate in a fully ventilated fume hood; wear a gas mask, chemical-resistant gloves, and safety goggles. Strictly avoid contact with water, alcohols, amines, and strong oxidants. Store separately from food, acids, and combustible materials. Dispose of waste liquid and packaging as hazardous waste per regulations.
