- Solubility: Miscible freely with water, methanol, ethanol, acetone; partially soluble in dichloromethane; insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, mineral oil, vegetable oil
- Melting Point: Rises with molecular weight; PEG400 ~4–8 °C, PEG1000 ~37–40 °C, PEG6000 ~58–63 °C

- Hydroxyl reactivity: Terminal -O1H1 can undergo esterification, etherification, cross-linking to produce PEG derivatives (PEG ester, PEG amine, PEG aldehyde)
- Thermal stability: Stable below 120 °C; above 180 °C thermal oxidation, chain cleavage generates aldehyde and acidic impurities
- Photostability: Stable under indoor light; long-term UV irradiation accelerates oxidative degradation
- pH stability: Stable in neutral / weak acid / weak alkaline environment; easy to degrade under strong alkali high temperature
- Compatibility: Compatible with most polar raw materials, resins, surfactants, pharmaceutical excipients; incompatible with tannins, phenols, iodine, strong oxidants

Safety Warning
Low toxicity, approved safe excipient for food, medicine and cosmetics within normal dosage. High-concentration dust of solid PEG may mildly irritate respiratory tract and eyes; wear dust mask and gloves during handling.
