Chemical Properties

- Aldehyde reactivity: Undergoes silver mirror reaction, can be oxidized to oxalic acid, reduced to glycolic acid
- Condensation reaction: Condenses with phenol, urea, aromatic amines to synthesize fine chemical intermediates
- Polymerization: Easy self-polymerization to form polyglyoxylic acid under neutral/alkaline conditions
