Chemical Properties

  1. Metal alkoxide structure: Four n-butoxy groups coordinated with titanium central atom, typical organotitanium crosslinking agent
  2. Hydrolysis reaction: Rapidly reacts with trace water to generate butanol and titanium dioxide precipitate; hydrolysis speed accelerates with temperature rise
  3. Transesterification: Undergoes alcohol exchange reaction with other alcohols to form different titanium alkoxides
  4. Catalytic activity: Strong Lewis acid catalyst, catalyzes esterification, transesterification, polycondensation, silicone curing
  5. Crosslinking performance: Reacts with hydroxyl, carboxyl groups in resins to form Ti-O-C crosslink bonds, improve coating adhesion and hardness
  6. Thermal stability: Stable below 180℃; above 220℃ thermal cracking occurs, releasing butanol and forming titanium oxide
  7. Acid-base compatibility: Decomposed by acid and water; stable in anhydrous neutral/oil system; incompatible with water, protic solvents, acids
  8. Oxidation resistance: Stable in air under sealed anhydrous condition; long-term open storage produces white titania hydrolysis impurities

3. Main Application Fields

1. Coating & Ink Crosslinker (Core Application)

Crosslinking catalyst for silicone coatings, alkyd paints, amino baking varnishes, printing inks. Improve coating hardness, adhesion to metal/glass/plastic, water resistance and weather resistance; reduce baking temperature.

2. Adhesion Promoter

Titanate coupling agent for glass fiber, metal powder, inorganic filler surface treatment; enhance binding force between inorganic fillers and organic resin matrix, reduce filler agglomeration.

3. Organic Synthesis Catalyst

High-efficiency catalyst for esterification, polyether synthesis, PET polyester production; replace toxic acid catalysts, reduce side reactions and equipment corrosion.

4. Sol-gel precursor raw material

Raw material for preparing nano titanium dioxide film, anti-reflection coating, self-cleaning glass, ceramic thin film via sol-gel hydrolysis process.

5. Plastic & Rubber Additive

Filler surface modifier for PVC, PP, rubber; improve filler dispersion, increase product tensile strength and surface gloss, lower processing viscosity.

6. Electronic & Industrial Auxiliary

Precursor for titanate ceramic powder; additive for high-temperature resistant lubricants; catalyst for polyurethane curing reaction.
