Chemical Properties
- Strong alkaline metal alkoxide, stronger alkalinity than sodium ethoxide
- Hydrolysis reaction: Rapid exothermic reaction with water to generate lithium hydroxide and ethanol
- Nucleophilic deprotonation: Deprotonates active hydrogen compounds (ketones, esters, nitriles) to form lithium enolate intermediates
- Transesterification reaction: Participates in ester exchange, lactone ring-opening polymerization
- Thermal stability: Stable under anhydrous sealed conditions below 60℃; above 100℃ gradually decomposes to lithium oxide and ethane fragments
- Acid-base reaction: Neutralizes with all acids to form lithium salts and ethanol
- Photostability: Avoid long-term light irradiation; light accelerates oxidation and impurity generation
