Boron trifluoride etherate (CAS 109-63-7), also known as Boron trifluoride diethyl etherate, is a classic Lewis acid complex formed by boron trifluoride and diethyl ether. It appears as colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid, which fumes heavily in moist air. With strong Lewis acidity, high catalytic activity and excellent solubility in organic solvents, it is one of the most widely used acid catalysts in organic synthesis and industrial production.
