As a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier, it has excellent emulsifying, dispersing, stabilizing, wetting and antistatic properties, and is widely used in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, textile, chemical and other fields[superscript:2][superscript:5]. In the food industry, it is used as an O/W type emulsifier, which can be used alone or mixed with Span-60, Span-65 and Span-80; it is applicable to bread (maximum usage 2.5g/kg), emulsified flavor (maximum usage 1.5g/kg) and other food, and can improve the texture and stability of food[superscript:2]. In the cosmetic industry, it is used as an emulsifier, stabilizer and humectant in creams, lotions, makeup and hair care products, which can improve product texture, avoid phase separation and enhance skin moisturizing effect[superscript:5]. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an auxiliary material for drug emulsification and solubilization, which can improve the solubility and stability of drugs[superscript:2][superscript:5]. In addition, it is also used as a softener, antistatic agent and rust inhibitor in textile industry and metal surface treatment; as a viscosity reducer in oil exploitation and transportation; and as an emulsifier and dispersant in paint, pigment and detergent production[superscript:2][superscript:4].
