As a non-thermal bactericidal additive, it is mainly used in food and beverage industry, especially for cold sterilization of fruit and vegetable juices, carbonated beverages, tea beverages and non-alcoholic drinks, which can quickly kill various contaminating bacteria at room temperature or even low temperature without affecting the taste, smell and color of the products. It can decompose into trace methanol and carbon dioxide in water, which is non-toxic and harmless to human health, and has been approved by WHO, FDA and other authorities for safe use in food industry. It is also used as an organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other products; in addition, it can be used as a preservative and sterilizing agent in cosmetics and daily chemical products.
