Product Description

Cytidine (CAS 65-46-3), also known as Cytosine β-D-riboside , is a pyrimidine nucleoside formed by cytosine combined with D-ribose via a β-N1-glycosidic bond. As a naturally occurring nucleoside, it is an important component of RNA and a precursor for uridine biosynthesis. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder, odorless and slightly bitter in taste, easily soluble in water, and widely used in pharmaceutical, biochemical research and biotechnology fields, mainly as an intermediate for anti-tumor and anti-viral drugs and a biochemical reagent.

1. Physical Properties

White to off-white crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter in taste; easily soluble in water, soluble in DMSO, slightly soluble in ethanol; density about 1.4 g/cm3; melting point 210–220 °C (decomposes); stable in low temperature and dry environment.

2. Chemical Properties

A pyrimidine nucleoside formed by cytosine and D-ribose via β-N1 glycosidic bond; exhibits weak acidity and alkalinity; stable in neutral and weakly acidic solutions; easily oxidized under strong oxidizing conditions; sensitive to moisture and light, and may degrade upon prolonged exposure.
