Product Description

1,1'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (CAS 12150-46-8), commonly known as DPPF, is an organophosphorus compound with a ferrocene backbone, appearing as a yellow to orange crystalline powder. It has a molecular formula of C??H??FeP? and a molecular weight of 554.38 Da. As a classic bidentate phosphine ligand, it readily forms stable complexes with transition metals (e.g., Pd, Ru, Ni), widely used in homogeneous catalysis, cross-coupling reactions (C-C, C-N, C-O bonds), and pharmaceutical intermediate synthesis.

1. Physical Properties

Yellow to orange crystalline powder, melting point 181-182 °C (decomposes), density about 1.32 g/cm3 (rough estimate), soluble in chloroform and dichloromethane, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water, odorless, stable in air but sensitive to prolonged exposure to moisture.

2. Chemical Properties

An organophosphorus bidentate phosphine ligand with a ferrocene core, stable under recommended storage conditions, incompatible with strong oxidizing agents; readily coordinates with transition metals (Pd, Ru, Ni) to form catalytically active complexes, excellent for cross-coupling reactions (Suzuki, Heck, Buchwald-Hartwig) and asymmetric catalysis.

3. Storage & Safety Properties

Storage: 2-8°C, sealed, dry and light-proof, keep container tightly closed to avoid moisture and air, store under inert atmosphere if possible. Safety: Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through skin; may cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation; avoid breathing dust, wear protective gloves, goggles and respiratory mask during operation. Transportation: Comply with relevant regulations, avoid mixing with strong oxidizing agents, ensure sealed packaging to prevent leakage and contamination.
