Taxifolin, also known as dihydroquercetin, is a bioflavonoid (belonging to the vitamin P family) extracted from the roots of larch trees in high-altitude regions. Taxifolin is an essential natural antioxidant for the human body. It is a globally scarce and extremely valuable ingredient in pharmaceuticals and health foods. Currently, taxifolin is only found in yew, paulownia, and larch, with very small amounts also present in *Pterocarya stenoptera* and wild black cherry. Because yew and paulownia are listed as globally endangered species and logging is prohibited, and larch is only distributed in eastern Siberia, northeastern Mongolia, northeastern China, and North Korea, and has a long growth cycle, the resources available for production are extremely scarce and limited. Due to its unique molecular structure with five phenolic hydroxyl groups, taurine is the best and rarest natural antioxidant discovered globally to date. It effectively removes free radicals and toxins from the body, thus possessing broad-spectrum biological and pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-radiation, anti-cancer, antiviral, immune-regulating, melanin-removing, and microcirculation-improving effects. Due to raw material and production process limitations, currently only the United States and Russia have developed various medicinal and edible products using taurine as a raw material. Russia's production technology is relatively mature, enabling small-scale industrial production. Global annual production is less than 20 tons, while China's current production is only 5 tons.
