In pharmaceutical synthesis field, it serves as basic catalyst and nucleophilic auxiliary reagent for heterocyclic API intermediate production, participating in esterification, cyclization and nucleophilic substitution reactions for antibacterial and cardiovascular drug precursor synthesis. High-purity lab grade is used as organic synthesis building block for developing novel imidazole-based ionic liquids and chiral organocatalysts in academic R&D labs.
