Product Usage

Methyl octanoate is a medium-chain fatty acid ester mainly applied in laboratory organic synthesis, daily chemical fragrance research and fine chemical pilot development instead of raw material for injectable medicine or arbitrary food addition. As an important synthetic perfume intermediate, it serves as raw material for manufacturing coconut, fruit and nut style essence used in flavor formulation laboratory tests. In organic synthesis experiments, it works as starting material for hydrolysis, transesterification and reduction reactions to produce caprylic acid, octanol and other downstream fine chemical intermediates. It is also adopted as standard reference substance for gas chromatographic qualitative and quantitative calibration of fatty acid ester mixtures in analytical labs, widely used in lipid composition detection of grease samples. Besides partial regulated food-grade flavor application following national food additive codes, industrial and reagent grade products are limited to lab synthesis and cosmetic raw material trial research only.
