2-Aminonicotinic acid is a core pyridine heterocyclic intermediate widely used in pharmaceutical and agrochemical manufacturing fields. Benefiting from ortho-amino and carboxyl dual active functional groups on pyridine ring, it is the key starting raw material for synthesizing fused pyridopyrimidine, pyridotriazole and multiple nitrogen-containing heterocyclic drug skeletons via cyclization, amidation and esterification reactions. In pharmaceutical industry, it is applied to prepare anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral prescription drug intermediates and central nervous system related drug precursors, also used for COX inhibitor new drug development. In pesticide domain, it serves as building block for high-efficiency herbicides, bactericides and insecticides with pyridine parent nucleus, for synthesis of systemic fungicide and crop protection chemicals. Besides fine chemical synthesis, it can coordinate with Cu, Zn, Co, Ni transition metals to prepare metal complex catalysts and antibacterial auxiliary additives for daily chemicals. It is also commonly used as lab research reagent for new compound screening in medicinal chemistry laboratories globally.
Low acute oral toxicity to mammals, no obvious acute poisoning risk. Direct skin contact induces erythema and pruritus; flush contaminated skin with plenty of running water over 15 minutes once splashed. Liquid or fine dust entering eyes causes stabbing pain and conjunctival hyperemia, continuous eye washing for minimum 15 min and consult doctor if discomfort persists. Inhalation of airborne powder irritates nasal mucosa and throat, triggering cough and chest tightness, all operations must be finished in well ventilated workspace with dust mask, nitrile gloves and splash-proof safety goggles. Store separately from strong oxidizers, strong acid and food raw materials in cool dark dry warehouse; waste solid and filtrate shall be treated as general hazardous waste following local environmental protection regulations, prohibited to discharge directly into rivers and soil.
