Dichlorophen sodium salt is a broad-spectrum bactericide, fungicide and anthelmintic fine chemical raw material. In veterinary field, it is core raw material for intestinal anti-parasitic medicines against tapeworm and fluke for poultry, livestock and aquatic animals, widely applied in feed additive formulation for livestock deworming. In industrial sterilization domain, it serves as preservative and anti-mold agent for leather, textile, latex and water treatment system, inhibiting growth of bacteria, mould and algae in circulating cooling water. It is also used as daily chemical preservative in cosmetic and personal care products under controlled dosage limit. Besides direct sterilization usage, it is key intermediate for synthesizing downstream phenolic germicides and pharmaceutical derivatives via acidification to get free dichlorophen monomer. Thanks to excellent water solubility compared with parent dichlorophen, this sodium salt is convenient for liquid formulation production and field dilution use in agriculture & aquaculture industry.
Low acute oral toxicity for mammal, but irritant to mucosa and skin. Direct skin contact triggers erythema and itching, wash contaminated skin with running water for 15 min immediately. Eye splash leads to conjunctival inflammation and lacrimation, continuous eye rinsing over 15 min and seek medical aid if discomfort persists. Inhalation of fine dust irritates nose and throat, cause cough and dyspnea. All operation must proceed in ventilated workspace with nitrile gloves, splash-proof goggles and dust respirator. Store separately from inorganic strong acid and foodstuff; waste solid and waste liquid shall be disposed following hazardous waste regulation, forbidden to discharge into surface water to prevent aquatic organism poisoning.
