Dexamethasone acetate is a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, anti-allergic and anti-shock effects. As a long-acting steroid, it is widely used in clinical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is formulated into creams, ointments, injections, tablets and eye drops for treating severe inflammation, allergic diseases, autoimmune disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis), asthma, and dermatoses (e.g., eczema, psoriasis). The acetate ester improves lipophilicity, enabling better skin penetration and longer local action. In research, it serves as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist for studying inflammation pathways, immune regulation, and related drug development.
Acute toxicity: Rat oral LD50 >5 g/kg (low acute toxicity). Prolonged skin contact may cause irritation or allergic dermatitis; rinse with plenty of water. Eye contact can cause severe irritation; flush with water for ≥15 minutes and seek medical help. Inhalation of dust may irritate respiratory tract. Use in well-ventilated area; wear nitrile gloves, safety goggles and dust mask. As a steroid, long-term systemic use may cause endocrine disorders; handle with care. Store separately from food, feed and oxidants. Dispose of waste per local regulations.
