Application

Bis(2-ethylhexyl)amine is a versatile aliphatic secondary amine widely applied in fine chemical, mineral processing, environmental protection and material industries. It acts as an efficient metal extractant and flotation agent, commonly used in hydrometallurgy to separate and enrich various metal ions from ore leachate. In chemical synthesis, it serves as an important intermediate for manufacturing surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, rubber additives and pesticide auxiliaries. Its lipophilic structure enables it to form stable complexes with acidic substances, so it is also used as an acid scavenger and neutralizer in industrial formulations. Additionally, this compound works as an emulsifier and dispersant in oilfield chemicals and industrial cleaning agents. With good chemical stability and moderate alkalinity, it performs steadily in high-temperature and complex working environments. It is also adopted in wastewater treatment to remove acidic pollutants and heavy metal components, becoming a widely used functional chemical in multiple industrial fields.

Safety Information

This product is classified as Danger under GHS standards. It is a corrosive and irritant liquid with moderate toxicity. Direct skin contact will cause severe irritation, redness, swelling and chemical burns, and prolonged exposure will aggravate tissue damage. Splashing into eyes leads to intense stinging, corneal injury and even temporary vision impairment. Inhalation of its vapor or mist irritates the respiratory tract severely, triggering cough, chest tightness and difficulty in breathing. Accidental ingestion may burn oral and digestive tracts, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. All operations must be performed in an exhausted fume hood. Operators shall wear chemical resistant gloves, full-face protective goggles and respiratory protection equipment. In case of skin contact, rinse immediately with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes. If contacted with eyes, keep eyelids open and flush continuously with clean water before seeking medical treatment. Store separately from strong acids, oxidants and food materials. Dispose of waste strictly in accordance with local hazardous waste disposal regulations.
