Hazard Statements: H315 Causes skin irritation; H319 Causes serious eye irritation; H335 May cause respiratory irritation
This compound has moderate irritancy and characteristic pungent odor. Inhalation of vapor may irritate the nose, throat and respiratory tract, leading to cough, dizziness and nausea. Direct skin contact causes redness, itching and discomfort; prolonged exposure may trigger dermatitis. Splashing into eyes results in severe stinging, tearing and conjunctival injury. It can be oxidized by air to form disulfides, and reacts violently with strong oxidants. Operators must work in a well-ventilated fume hood, wearing nitrile gloves, chemical goggles and protective masks. Avoid inhalation, skin and eye contact. In case of contact, rinse skin with plenty of soapy water immediately, and flush eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes. Store separately from oxidants, acids and food chemicals. Dispose of waste strictly in accordance with hazardous waste regulations to prevent air and water pollution.
