Application

Eosin Y disodium salt is a classic xanthene dye and biological stain with wide-ranging applications in laboratory, industry and daily products. In histology and cytology, it is the most commonly used counterstain for hematoxylin-eosin staining, coloring cytoplasm, connective tissues and extracellular matrix bright red to distinguish cell structures clearly, which is essential for pathological diagnosis and biological specimen observation. In microbiology, it serves as a selective dye and indicator in culture media for microbial identification. It is also applied in textile dyeing, ink production, paper coloring and cosmetic coloring. As a fluorescent probe, it is used in biochemical analysis to detect proteins and biomolecules. Besides, it acts as an acid-base indicator and redox indicator in chemical experiments. With vivid color and stable dyeing performance, it remains an indispensable reagent in life science research and traditional dyeing industries.

Safety Information

GHS Classification: Warning
Hazard Statements: H315 Causes skin irritation; H319 Causes serious eye irritation; H335 May cause respiratory irritation
This compound has low acute toxicity with oral LD50 higher than 5000 mg/kg in rodents. Direct skin contact may lead to redness, itching and mild irritation, and long-term repeated contact may cause dry skin. Splashes into eyes will result in stinging, tearing and conjunctival inflammation. Inhalation of fine dust can irritate nasal cavity and respiratory tract, causing cough and throat discomfort. There is no evidence of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or reproductive toxicity under standard use. Operators shall wear nitrile gloves, safety goggles and dust mask in well-ventilated areas. In case of contact, rinse skin with soap and water, and flush eyes with plenty of running water for 15 minutes. Store separately from strong oxidizing agents. Dispose of waste strictly in accordance with local chemical waste regulations.
