Dicyclanil is a highly effective pyrimidine-based insect growth regulator (IGR), structurally similar to cyromazine, acting by inhibiting insect molting and larval development. It is widely used in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry for the prevention and control of myiasis (fly strike) in livestock such as sheep, cattle and goats, especially targeting early-season parasitic infestations. Its unique mechanism disrupts larval cuticle formation, preventing larvae from developing into adults and breaking the pest life cycle with high efficiency and low dosage. Direct skin contact may cause redness, itching or dryness; wear chemical-resistant gloves and long-sleeve clothing during handling. Eye contact can result in stinging and conjunctival irritation; rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes if exposed. Thermal decomposition at high temperatures releases toxic nitrogen oxide fumes; keep away from open flames, heat sources and strong oxidants.
