Applications

Styrenated Phenol (SP) is a classic hindered phenolic antioxidant, widely used in rubber and polymer industries. As a non-staining, non-discoloring anti-aging agent, it is ideal for white/light-colored rubber products (e.g., shoe soles, tire white sidewalls, latex goods). It effectively inhibits thermal-oxidative aging and flex cracking in natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, chloroprene rubber, and EPDM, with typical dosage 0.5–3.0%. In plastics, it acts as a heat stabilizer for polyolefins, PVC, and resins, adding 0.01–0.5% to improve processing stability and extend service life. It also serves as an antioxidant for lubricants, adhesives, and sealants, preventing oxidative degradation under high temperatures. With excellent compatibility, low volatility, and no blooming, it is a cost-effective, multi-purpose stabilizer critical for rubber, plastics, and polymer material manufacturing.

Safety Information

Styrenated Phenol is low-toxic but environmentally hazardous (GHS09, H411: Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects). Inhalation of vapor/mist may irritate the respiratory tract, causing cough or discomfort; use respiratory protection and ensure ventilation. Skin contact may cause mild irritation or allergic reactions; wear chemical-resistant gloves and rinse skin promptly. Eye contact can lead to severe irritation, redness, or pain; flush eyes with plenty of water for 15+ minutes and seek medical attention. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting, or gastrointestinal distress; do not induce vomiting and seek medical help. Store separately from strong oxidants, acids, and food; keep sealed to avoid moisture and light. Waste must be disposed of as hazardous waste to prevent water/soil pollution.
