Applications

CAS 58130-03-3 is a reactive silicone macromonomer with dual methacrylate ends, widely used in UV-curable coatings, adhesives, sealants, and polymer modification. It combines the flexibility, weather resistance, water repellency, and low surface tension of silicones with the radical polymerizability of methacrylates. In UV-curable coatings, it serves as a flexibilizer and adhesion promoter for acrylic systems, improving scratch resistance, hydrophobicity, and substrate adhesion (metal, plastic, glass) while reducing internal stress. In adhesives & sealants, it enhances elasticity, low-temperature flexibility, and moisture resistance. For polymer blending, it copolymerizes with acrylates, epoxies, or polyurethanes to introduce silicone segments, boosting weatherability and oxygen permeability. It is also used in ink, release agent, and dental material formulations, where its low surface energy and biocompatibility add value.

Safety InformationClassified as GHS07 (H315, H319, H335); irritant, low hazard.

  • Inhalation: Mist may irritate respiratory tract (cough, sore throat); use local exhaust and dust mask.
  • Skin Contact: Causes mild irritation (redness, itching); wear nitrile gloves, wash skin with soap and water.
  • Eye Contact: Causes severe irritation (stinging, tearing, redness); wear safety goggles, rinse eyes with water for ≥15 minutes and seek medical help.
  • Ingestion: May cause nausea/discomfort; do not induce vomiting, drink water and seek medical aid.
  • Chemical Hazards: Stable under normal conditions; avoid strong oxidants, free radical initiators, and high temperatures (>200 °C), which may trigger polymerization or decomposition.
  • Storage: Keep in cool, dry, well-ventilated area in tightly sealed containers; separate from incompatible substances.
  • Disposal: Dispose of waste per local hazardous waste regulations; avoid release to environment.
