Applications
Potassium stearate is a common anionic surfactant and fatty acid salt derivative with excellent emulsifying, lubricating, thickening and stabilizing effects. It is widely used in daily chemical industry as emulsifier and viscosity regulator for cosmetics, skin care products and washing supplies to improve product texture and stability. In rubber and plastic industry, it acts as internal lubricant, release agent and processing aid to enhance material fluidity and wear resistance. It can also be used as food-grade anti-caking agent, mold release agent and textile softener. In pharmaceutical industry, it serves as excipient and lubricant for tablet molding. Besides, it is applied in metal cleaning, paint dispersion and industrial lubricant preparation, possessing wide application value in chemical processing, material manufacturing and daily consumer goods fields.
Safety Information
Potassium stearate is low-toxic and weakly irritating chemical substance with good safety performance. Inhalation of fine powder may cause slight dry throat and respiratory discomfort, so avoid dust generation during operation. Long-term skin contact may lead to mild dryness and rough skin, timely cleaning after contact is recommended. Eye contact will cause temporary stinging and foreign body sensation, immediately flush with plenty of clean water for more than fifteen minutes. Accidental intake of a small amount will not cause serious harm, excessive intake may induce mild nausea and abdominal discomfort. Operators shall wear ordinary protective gloves and dust-proof masks and keep working environment ventilated. Keep away from strong oxidants and acidic substances during storage and usage. It shall be stored separately from food raw materials. Waste materials can be treated as general industrial waste in accordance with relevant environmental protection regulations without serious environmental pollution risks.
