Applications
Tenofovir is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor with potent antiviral activity. It is a key pharmaceutical intermediate for the production of anti-HIV and anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) drugs. Its mechanism involves being converted into an active diphosphate metabolite in cells, which competes with natural nucleotides to bind viral reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking viral DNA synthesis and replication. It is widely used in the synthesis of antiviral drugs such as Tenofovir Disoproxil and Tenofovir Alafenamide, and is an essential raw material in the treatment of HIV-1 infection and chronic hepatitis B.
