Applications

Copper(I) chloride is an important monovalent copper inorganic salt with excellent reducibility and catalytic coordination performance. It is widely used as a key catalyst in organic synthesis for coupling, polymerization and organic chlorination reactions, and serves as a raw material for preparing various copper complex catalysts. In chemical industry, it is used as decolorizing agent, desulfurizer and deoxidizer in petroleum and chemical refining processes.
In electroplating industry, it is applied for alkaline copper plating and alloy plating raw materials. It also acts as mordant in textile printing and dyeing, additive in ceramic glaze, raw material for pesticide intermediates and analytical reagent for chemical laboratory detection. In addition, it is commonly used in the preparation of rare earth smelting auxiliaries and electronic material components.

Safety Information

This substance is irritating and slightly toxic to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Direct skin contact may cause dryness, irritation and mild allergic reaction; long-term exposure may lead to skin discomfort and inflammation. Eye contact will cause severe stinging, conjunctival congestion and foreign body sensation, requiring immediate and thorough rinsing with plenty of clean running water. Inhalation of dust can irritate nasal and throat mucosa, causing cough, throat dryness and respiratory discomfort. Accidental ingestion may induce nausea, stomachache and gastrointestinal irritation symptoms.
It is toxic to aquatic organisms and prohibited from direct discharge into water bodies, sewage and soil environment. During handling, operate in a well-ventilated fume hood, wear nitrile protective gloves, chemical safety goggles and dust mask. Keep away from high temperature, open flame, strong oxidants and strong acids. Store sealed, moisture-proof and protected from light to prevent oxidation deterioration. Waste residues and empty packaging shall be disposed in accordance with hazardous chemical waste regulations to avoid environmental pollution and health hazards.
