Applications
Calcium citrate is a safe and high-efficiency organic calcium supplement with good human absorption and mild stomach irritation. It is widely used in food industry as nutritional calcium fortifier, acidity regulator and chelating agent, added in dairy products, beverages, biscuits and health care products to supplement calcium element and improve product stability. In pharmaceutical industry, it is used as raw material for calcium supplement tablets and granules, suitable for children, pregnant women and the elderly to prevent osteoporosis and calcium deficiency symptoms.
It also serves as buffering agent, anticoagulant aid and raw material for pharmaceutical excipients. In chemical and daily chemical fields, it is used as water softener, cleaning additive and metal ion chelating agent. Meanwhile, it is commonly applied in feed industry as mineral nutrition additive for livestock and poultry breeding.
Safety Information
This product is low-toxic and non-irritating under normal use. Proper contact with skin generally causes no discomfort, but long-term dust inhalation may cause mild respiratory tract irritation such as throat dryness and cough. Accidental ingestion of excessive amount may cause slight gastrointestinal discomfort, including bloating and mild stomachache. It does not cause obvious corrosion or strong stimulation to eyes, but dust entering eyes still needs timely rinsing with clean water.
During handling, avoid long-term inhalation of dust; wear ordinary dust-proof gloves and masks in ventilated environment. Keep sealed and moisture-proof storage, do not mix and store with strong acid substances. Waste materials and packaging shall be disposed in accordance with general solid waste regulations, and avoid arbitrary dumping to prevent accumulation and environmental impact.
