Sodium alginate is also known as sodium alginate, kelp gum, and sodium alginate. The main component is the sodium salt of alginic acid, which is a mixture of uronic acid. It is a kind of glue extracted from brown seaweeds such as kelp. It appears as white or light yellow powder. It is used as a sizing agent and printing paste for textiles, and is also widely applied in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer and emulsifier.
