TEG is a colorless, transparent and viscous liquid with practically no odor, slightly sweet taste and strong hygroscopicity. It is miscible with water, ethanol, benzene, propanol and most polar organic solvents, and has stable chemical properties under normal conditions. It has the properties of both alcohol and ether due to the oxygen atoms and hydroxyl groups connected to the alkyl groups.

Main Uses

TEG is a basic petrochemical raw material with a wide range of applications in various industries, and it is a more environmentally friendly and safe alternative to diethylene glycol (DEG):
  • Aromatic Hydrocarbon Extraction: Used as an extractant for reformate aromatic hydrocarbons, with excellent extraction performance and high separation efficiency.
  • Solvent: Applied as a solvent in rubber, nitrate fiber, coatings, inks and adhesives, with good solubility and compatibility; it can dissolve phenol, cellulose and other substances but not petroleum ether and grease.
  • Chemical Intermediate: Used in the synthesis of ethylene glycol ether, plasticizer, polyester resin, polyurethane and other fine chemicals; it is also a raw material for the preparation of triethylene glycol diacetate.
  • Other Uses: Also used in rocket fuel, diesel additives, textile auxiliaries, lubricating oil viscosity improvers, as well as in medicine, food, cosmetics and metal processing industries; it can also be used to reduce the freezing point of water.

Lab Grade: 1L, 5L, 25L sealed plastic bottles, suitable for laboratory use and small-batch sampling.
Industrial Grade: 200L galvanized iron drum/HDPE drum, 1000L IBC tote, 20000L ISO tank, all adopt sealed moisture-proof packaging to prevent moisture absorption and contamination; the standard packaging specification can also be 200kg per drum.

Storage Method

Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse, the storage temperature should be controlled between 5-30℃. Keep the package tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and volatilization. Away from fire, heat source and strong oxidants, avoid mixed storage with edible chemicals; it is slightly toxic, non-irritating to eyes and skin, but long-term contact may soften the skin. The shelf life is 24 months under standard sealed storage conditions.
